For those wanting to avoid intensive plastic surgery, a thread lift is a great choice. Performed here at our Manchester skin clinic by a skilled team led by Consultant Dermatologist Dr Nicole, it can help give you tighter, more youthful skin – and a dash of confidence, too.
In this blog, we’ll go through some of those commonly-asked questions regarding this popular treatment, from how long a thread lift takes, to how to care for skin and the ins and outs of aftercare.
Why try a thread lift?
Also known as Silhouette Soft, a thread lift is non-invasive and is recommended for those with mild sagging of the cheeks and jawline, or laugh lines. It can help stimulate the skin’s collagen production to give a firm, youthful look to the face.
How does the Silhouette Soft work?
The treatment involves having a suture placed around the treated area, with special cones to hold it in place. These then help reposition the skin to give it a lifted appearance.
Who is suitable for treatment?
Many people are able to enjoy the fantastic benefits of a thread lift, however we’ll book you in for a consultation before any treatment to ensure you’re suitable. Thread lifts aren’t advised for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, those with an infection of history of autoimmune disease, and those who are under 18. If you’ve had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients and components of the Silhouette Soft treatment, we also don’t advise treatment.
Are thread lifts safe?
The Silhouette Soft technique took several years to research and develop and since then, over 150,000 treatments have been carried out globally. Of course, having a professional team in place is also important, ensuring that every aspect of your care is carried out correctly.
Does treatment hurt?
Silhouette Soft treatment is performed under a local anaesthetic. It takes up to 1 hour, depending on the amount of sutures needed, with recovery taking anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.
How long do results last?
Results vary depending on your age, skin, the amount of sutures used and placement. We’ll be able to give you a rough idea of how long you can expect your Silhouette Soft results to last during your treatment.
What is your aftercare advice?
When having a Silhouette Soft treatment, there’s lots we recommend, from avoiding heat treatments such as saunas, to taking paracetamol to manage any pain. Sun protection is vital for your skin and it’s important to avoid touching the treated areas too. We’ll go through aftercare in greater detail during your consultation.
