Let’s Talk About Laser Resurfacing

9th September 2020

Laser procedures are only increasing in popularity – whatever the reason you’re seeking treatment. Some are ideal for treating unwanted hair, while others can break down areas of pigmentation, shrink lines and scarring, and improve the texture of skin.

In this post, the Dermatologists here at our Manchester skin clinic discuss laser resurfacing, and how this treatment is powerful, effective and safe for your beautiful skin.

Q: Can lasers harm my skin?
A: No.

Our Dermatologists care greatly about your skin health and this is always out top priority when recommending treatments to our clients.  We’ve also worked hard to build a reputation within dermatology and facial aesthetics – we proudly won the award for Best New Clinic in the UK & Ireland at the 2019 Aesthetics Awards.

Laser resurfacing may cause some temporary side-effects post-treatment, such as the appearance of sunburn, flaking or tightness and swelling in the skin, but these should pass quickly. Our Dermatologists recommend sun protection on skin as a matter of course, but it’s even more important following laser resurfacing.

Q: What can you recommend for me?
A: We have three main treatments.

Our RESURFACE treatment is ideal for those with wrinkles, line and scars as it smoothes and evens texture while increasing collagen production (the ‘building block’ of skin that keeps is firm and supple).

For clients targeting discoloration and pigmentation problems, or areas of redness in the skin, our REBRIGHT treatment tackles everything from sun spots and freckles to dilated veins.

Finally, REMODEL is the treatment of choice for those seeking tighter, firmer skin – most notably in areas around the eyes and jaw.

Bear in mind that any of our laser resurfacing treatments require an in-depth consultation ahead of booking.

Q: What can I expect from results?
A: Around a year of transformed skin.

A laser resurfacing treatment course may be recommended by our Dermatologists to optimise your results, which is discussed with you during your consultation. This is typically around 3 treatment sessions. Providing you follow appropriate aftercare instructions and use sun protection, you could enjoy results for a year – or more.

Q: What else can I try?
A: We offer a variety of treatments to help you get the best out of your skin.

These include chemical peels, microneedling and Tixel treatment, which uses heat energy without the use of a laser and is effective on acne scarring, signs of ageing and uneven tone. Each can prompt the skin to renew and rejuvenate, and most people are suitable for the treatments (subject to a consultation).
