Looking after you skin can be stressful and time consuming, but it shouldn’t be.
Understanding the way your skin works can help you plan out a better more effective skin care routine.
One of people’s main concerns when researching skin care is preventing skin from ageing. Whilst skin ageing is inevitable, it can be slowed down.
Certain factors like exposure to too much sun can increase the skin ageing process. So learning ways to prevent this and understanding our skin better can help maintain fresher, more youthful looking skin for longer.
What causes skin ageing to accelerate?
How we age is determined by the interaction of genetic and environmental variables. We lose collagen and skin suppleness as a result of cumulative UV damage. Sagging, skin folds, wrinkles, rough skin, age spots, are all signs of ageing. However, some regions of the body age more quickly than others, and changes in the skin’s surface aren’t the only cause of age-related symptoms.
Which areas are more affected?
The skin sags and migrates downwards because to thinning of the underlying fat pads and loosening of the ligaments in our skin. The most noticeable alterations are around the eyes and mouth. Over time, facial muscle contraction generates deeper lines and creases. These lines and wrinkles develop with facial expressions at first, but they become static over time and are always apparent.
