Silhouette Soft: Aftercare

2nd April 2020

Now that you’ve decided on a Silhouette Soft treatment, the team at our Manchester skin clinic are here to ensure every element of the procedure goes smoothly. One thing our clients can be concerned about – regardless of which treatment they’re about to undergo – is the kind of aftercare involved. While our treatments are typically minimally invasive, it’s important to be as informed as possible about what’s involved and how you can help with healing once it’s over.

Treatment summary

Silhouette Soft – also known as a thread lift – aims to make skin firmer, tighter and more youthful by gently lifting it into position. It works by placing sutures under the skin, with small cones attached, which are reabsorbed by the body after a time. Its main benefit is restoring volume to sagging skin.

Additional treatments

As thread lifts are non-invasive, you may be able to combine them with some other treatments to maximise your results. For instance, skin resurfacing treatments, such as chemical peels, could help create smoother facial skin and target other signs of ageing, such as age spots and lines.

In the first 24 hours

Following your thread lift treatment, you’ll likely experience some minor swelling, soreness, redness or marking around the suture points – which should all settle within a couple of weeks. Using cold packs in the first day or so can help any swelling settle down and over-the-counter pain relief can help manage any soreness. In addition, make-up should be avoided for around 12 hours, in case it aggravates the treated areas.

In the first week

Avoid sleeping on your side for at least 5 nights, as this could cause discomfort in the treated areas. Keep on top of pain and soreness as directed above.

In the first 2 weeks

Immediately following treatment, and for a period of up to 2 weeks, you should avoid:

– Facials and facial massage (10 days)
– Alcohol (14 days)
– Sunbathing/extremes of heat or cold (14 days)
– Vigorous exercise (14 days)
