Targeting common signs of ageing and scars

Cutting-edge laser therapy can be an extremely powerful tool in rejuvenating skin for natural-looking results. At Lumiere Clinic, we offer IPL, radiofrequency, and laser resurfacing treatments in Manchester to target the following skin concerns:

  1. lines and wrinkles
  2. crepey and loose skin
  3. pigmentation, sun damage spots
  4. facial redness and thread veins
  5. enlarged pores, rough skin texture, dull skin
  6. acne scars

We offer three main types of laser and light treatments in Manchester:

RESURFACE for lines, wrinkles and scars: Er: YAG fractional laser targets both the superficial (epidermis) and deep (dermis) layers of the skin. It stimulates cell renewal on the epidermis, which smoothens out the texture of the skin. It also targets the dermis by promoting the relaying of collagen. This treatment can improve skin texture, reduce static lines, wrinkles and acne scarring.*

REBRIGHT for discoloration: 585 IPL technology treats hyperpigmentation, vascular outbreaks and areas of redness.* This treatment can improve discoloration on the skin such as redness, dilated veins, freckles and sun spots. *

REMODEL for firmness: Radiofrequency causes micro-vibrations (dermal heating) within the skin to help produce new collagen and elastin. This leads to a subtle lifting and tightening effect for skin that has lost its firmness.* This treatment is useful for areas that have lost its firmness and tend to sag such as around the eyes and jawline.

IPL

How IPL Works
When treating vascular lesions, the light heats up the blood vessels, causing the vessels to either instantly
collapse, or the blood to coagulate within the vessel. Over the following weeks, the damaged vessels are
absorbed naturally by the body.

When treating pigmentation, pigment (melanin) will absorb the light, which

causes them to heat up. The heat created damages the cells containing the melanin, while causing minimal
damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged lesions turn darker and may crust. Over
following weeks pigmentation can gradually fade away from the skin, leaving little trace of the original mark.

IPL also has a mild rejuvenating effect. It can help to stimulate collagen synthesis and overtime, the skin can
be firmer.

Typically 16 treatments are required depending on the type of lesion being

treated. More sessions are likely to give better results. Maintenance treatments are recommended, and
treatments can be repeated every 612 months, or longer depending on need.

Please note if IPL is performed on areas of hair growth, it can lead to temporary or permanent hair loss on
the area of treatment.

During IPL treatment what to expect

When treatment is performed, you are likely to experience a warm sensation in your skin, sometimes it can
feel like an elastic band hitting on the skin.

You will need to wear safety goggles throughout the treatment and have your eyes closed. Despite closing
your eyes, you can still see a bright light. Please rest assure that your eyes are safe with goggles on.

Radiofrequency

How Radio Frequency works
Radiofrequency (RF) is a nonsurgical method for mild skin tightening,
particularly for around the eyes, lower cheeks, jawline and neck. It uses energy
waves at 2MHz to generate dermal heating, which stimulates new collagen and
elastin growth, resulting in stronger and firmer skin. RF treatments do not
replace surgery or injectable procedures.

What to expect

The treated area can be red or pink in colour immediately after the treatment
and this may last for a few hours. It will also feel warm to the touch during this
time.

Results are generally subtle and gradual, and may vary between individuals.

Multiple treatments are required. Typically, 6 sessions two weeks apart for a
course of treatment.

Best results are seen after a course of treatments and the results may continue to
be seen 36 months after the end of your course.

We advise monthly maintenance treatments to help maintain the results.

What our patients say

“After suffering from a build up of congestion and open pores. I had a resurface treatment to get clearer, smother looking skin with tighter pores. After my initial consultation and patch test. I was treated with resurface. Immediately after the treatment my skin was red and warm and felt like mild sunburn. This lasted for the rest of that day but by the following day had disappeared. By day 3-4 I experienced some dryness and my face felt tight and flakey. By day 6 I was left with flawless skin with tighter pores. My make up sits so much better on my skin now and it was well worth the few days of dryness and flakiness.”
