Wrinkles might be a natural part of growing older, but that doesn’t mean they’re a welcome one! At Lumiere skin clinic in Manchester, we know how a subtle tweak here and there can do wonders for your self-worth and self-confidence, helping you look as young as you feel.
When it comes to our wrinkles, many people say they tell a story, or they’re signs of a live well-lived. But because wrinkles are often caused by repetitive movements and expressions, they can leave us permanently looking a certain way – and that’s not always a positive thing.
In this post, our experts here in Manchester talk through the different wrinkles you may have, and what they might say about you…
Forehead
This is one of the most common places for wrinkles to develop – in fact, it may well be the first place you notice them. They’re usually caused by movements such as raising the eyebrows and may make you appear worried or anxious. Botox is often the answer, working to relax the area for a softer look.
Eyes
Crow’s feet, small indents around the eyes, can actually make us appear happy or amused, which can be a positive thing, or they can make us look tense. Wrinkles do worsen over time, and crow’s feet can even spread into the cheek area. Squinting and smiling are usually the culprits. Botox is recommended to combat this type of wrinkle.
You can also develop lines and wrinkles under the eyes, which can be associated with negative emotions such as grief, stress and loss. The skin in this area does thin with age and become ‘saggy’. Dermal fillers can help correct this and restore loss of volume.
Jaw
The jaw can be a place of tension – especially if you’re in the habit of gritting your teeth! Over time, wrinkles can form around this area and can make you appear tense or even resentful. The jaw can also appear square, where a more slim and refined silhouette is preferred. Botox can relax the muscles to ease the appearance of wrinkles and even create a slimmer appearance.
Brows
There’s a whole host of things your frown lines (or ‘elevens’) say about you – and it’s a mixed bag. While they can be a sign of concentration or focus, they’re called ‘frown lines’ for a reason – and may make you appear angry or impatient. Again, botox can work wonders in this area!
Nose
There are several types of lines and wrinkles that may form here. You may have bunny lines, which mostly develop (and appear) when laughing or smiling and are associated with these positive emotions, or you may have lines running from your nose to your mouth, which look puffy and can create a sad expression. Dermal fillers can temporarily reverse their appearance while making the skin appear smoother.
Lips
Whether you have single lines running from lip to chin, or vertical lines above the lips, the face can appear sad or angry. These vertical lines, which appear when you pucker or pout your lips, can become permanently etched into your face. Again, dermal fillers can help improve their appearance.
