Our skin clinic here in Manchester carries out botox injections for a range of anti-ageing treatments, from targeting crow’s feet to forehead lines. But there are other uses for botox too – and people are surprised that one of those uses is slimming. Here’s how it works.

Jaw slimming

Botox can be used to non-surgically slim the jaw, because botox works to relax the muscles. The treatment is injected into the masseter, one of the large muscles of the jaw used for chewing. Within a few weeks, the muscles reduce in size and the area will appear smaller, creating a slimming effect. This is especially effective in those who have a square-shaped jaw, who are looking to soften and contour its appearance.

Neck slimming

You may have heard of the Nefertiti lift, named after the elegant Egyptian Queen. This procedure uses botox to non-surgically slim the neck, targeting the muscles that pull down on your jawline for a firmer, smoother appearance, combatting signs of sagging and causing the tendons in the neck to appear less pronounced. Some clients also notice a positive improvement on their marionette lines (running from mouth to chin).

Calf slimming

It might seem unusual for botox to be injected somewhere other than your face or neck, but it can be used on areas of the leg to create a slimmer appearance here, too. The concept is the same, where botox’s relaxing quality causes the muscles to reduce in size. Again, the procedure is non-surgical, so no downtime and minimal risks are involved.
