1. What is micro-needling?

   This advanced anti-ageing treatment makes micro-punctures in the skin through a hand-held medical device with tiny needles. The micro-punctures (or channels) trigger a healing response, part of which involves the production of new collagen and elastin. These proteins help build and maintain healthy skin. They also help to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, target pigmentation and sun-damaged skin and treat acne scars and stretch marks.*

   At Lumiere Clinic, Manchester, we use Dermapen™ as it delivers treatment at a more controlled depth than other therapies (including traditional dermarollers). This reduces downtime and increases comfort.

2. How long does the treatment take?

   This varies depending on the treatment area but plan to be with us for 30 to 60 minutes.*

3. When should I see results?

   It usually takes around 6 weeks to see initial results. Collagen and elastin will continue to be produced after the treatment meaning that results will build over time and be longer lasting. *

4. How many treatments will I need?

   This will depend on your individual needs. Our Dermatologist and qualified practitioners will discuss this in detail during your consultation. Many of our patients have treatment courses of 3 to 6 micro-needling sessions.

5. Is the treatment painful?

   At our skin clinic in Manchester, we use a topical anaesthetic cream to minimise discomfort before treatment begins. Dermapen™ is more comfortable than traditional dermaroller treatments.

6. Are there any side effects?

   Patients may experience skin redness and flushing, mild skin tightness and sensitivity immediately after treatment. There may be mild peeling the following day.*
