  • Acne

    Acne

Acne is an inflammatory condition due to multiple factors. The main driver seems to be excessive sebum (oil) in the skin, which is usually driven by a combination of hormones (androgens) and genetic background. Coupled with clogged pores, this creates an environment for the P.acne bacteria to flourish, causing inflammation in the skin, leading to what we see as acne spots.

We offer a variety of treatments for this, ranging from skin care advice, day-to-day skin care regime, chemical peels to medical treatments (such as oral antibiotics, Spironolactone and Roaccutane). A combination of treatments is sometimes helpful to achieve best overall results.

We also offer a full range of cosmetic treatments for residual dark spots and post-acne scarring. This can range from specialist creams, chemical peels to laser resurfacing treatments.

The full range of medical and cosmetic treatments available makes Lumiere Clinic unique, offering comprehensive care for your acne.

  • Eczema

    Eczema

Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition which affects 1 in 5 children in the UK. It may also start later in life in people who did not have eczema as a child. The affected skin is dry, itchy and inflamed. It is due to an underlying genetic factor, and the condition is also linked with asthma and hay fever.

We offer a combination of medical creams and oral medications to control the acute flares. As it is a long-term condition, once the acute flares have settled, it is important to know how to prevent further flares and to maintain the results of treatments.

If the eczema is suspected to be triggered by an allergy, such as in the case of an allergic contact dermatitis, we can perform allergy testing/patch testing to identify the potential allergens.

  • Psoriasis

    Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin condition that affects 2% of the population. There are many different types of psoriasis. The condition is due to an underlying genetic factor, and can be triggered by stress, infections and ill-health.

We offer treatments such as medical creams and oral medications to control the acute flares. It is recommended to have regular follow-up reviews to monitor the safety of the treatments especially if you are taking oral treatments for psoriasis.

  • Hair loss

    Hair loss

There are a range of causes for hair loss. The common causes are female and male pattern hair loss (thinning over the frontal scalp), alopecia areata (patches of smooth bald areas), telogen effluvium (hair shedding all over the scalp), and lichen planopilaris (scarring form of hair loss).

At consultation, a specialist hair assessment will be carried out to diagnose the root cause of hair loss. We offer a range of treatments to boost hair growth and treat the underlying problem. These include medical treatments, hair care advice, supplementation and PRP (platelet rich plasma).

  • Pigmentation

    Pigmentation

There are many potential causes for the skin to turn darker or lighter. Common causes are melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation, age spots, and vitiligo.

Diagnosis of the pigmentation problem is important in order to target treatments effectively. We offer medical treatments to target the underlying cause of pigmentation (this is particularly important when treating post-inflammatory pigmentation).
We also have cosmetic treatments such as chemical peels and skin care systems that are effective at improving pigmentation.

  • Skin lesions

    Skin lesions

There are many different types of skin lesions, and they can be benign (harmless), pre-cancerous, or cancerous. It is important to have your skin lesions examined properly by a dermatologist.

There are different methods of removal (including shave removal and full excision) depending on the site and type of the lesion. A full discussion on the methods of removal can only be offered once the lesions have been properly examined.

  • Urticaria

    Urticaria

Urticaria is a common condition, which affects about 1 in 5 people at some point in their lives. Affected individuals tend to complain of itchy hives, which resolve of their own accord within 24 hours. A small minority of people can have a longer course, and deeper swellings.

At Lumiere Clinic, we offer a combination of oral treatments and the regime is effective at controlling this condition.

  • Rosacea

    Rosacea

Rosacea is a common condition which usually affects people from their late 30s onwards. It tends to affect the cheeks, central forehead and chin. The condition has a chronic course and it is important to know how to control it well. Affected individuals tend to complain of skin sensitivity, redness, dilated vessels and pus-filled spots. There is now a new cream called Soolantra® cream which is effective for this condition. We also offer laser treatments for the dilated vessels. We offer a combination of medical and cosmetic options to treat your rosacea.
