In general, lasers treat the skin by penetrating it with a specific wavelength of light that targets certain molecules in the skin. The Cutera Excel V+ has the wavelength of 532nm and 1064nm which target both vascular and pigment molecules in the skin. The Cutera Excel V+ laser uses the unique Lithium Triborate crystal which makes it incredibly powerful, effective and reliable at treating vascular and pigmentation concerns of the skin. Your practitioner will choose one of the two modes in the Cutera Excel V+ laser and adjust the treatment parameters to suit your unique skin concerns.
If you prefer no downtime for your treatment or if you have darker skin types or if you have melasma, the Laser Genesis mode is most suitable for you. If you prefer a stronger treatment, you can request for the Coolview mode.
Results are typically seen after three to six treatment sessions, however this does depend on your skin conditions and your desired outcome.

There are two modes of treatment in the Cutera Excel V+ laser. For the Coolview mode, treatments shouldn’t hurt more than a brief rubber band snap against the skin. For the Laser Genesis mode, treatments are generally comfortable apart from a warmth sensation to the skin.
The treatments tend to take 10-30 minutes depending on the areas treated.
The Cutera Excel V+ laser can treat over 20 skin issues. Common skin issues being treated by this laser are rosacea, red veins, cherry angiomas (red spots), leg veins, freckles, skin rejuvenation, acne, acne marks, scars and melasma (to reduce the risk of melasma from recurring).
You can usually put on makeup and resume your typical activities right away after treatment. After treatment, it’s normal to expect some redness and/or swelling. Swelling will peak 24 to 48 hours after a full-face treatment but subside within a few days. Following treatment, treated brown spots will darken and peel off in 3 to 5 days.
In general, we recommend 3-6 treatment sessions to achieve the desired outcome. However, depending on the severity of your condition, your treatment sessions may vary.
