Dr Nicole uses anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers (Juvederm®) to firm and lift the jaw and neck. Anti-wrinkle injections are prepared from botulinum into a purified form. It relaxes facial muscles and reduces muscle contraction by temporarily blocking their nerve impulses. The treatment is most effective in those who have strong neck muscles. Dr Nicole uses highly-targeted injections to the neck muscles to create the jaw lifting effect.
The jaw line can be redefined and jowls improved with dermal fillers. Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid (which is naturally present in our skin) in a smooth gel. Dr Nicole uses Juvederm®, which is a temporary, hyaluronic acid filler that is broken down with time by your own natural enzymes.
Dermal fillers usually give immediate results following the procedure, while anti-wrinkle injections can take up to 14 days to reach its full effect. The results will depend on your individual requirements and will be discussed fully during the consultation. We always aim to use these treatments to enhance your natural features, giving natural-looking results.
This can vary from one person to the next as individual metabolism affects the length of results. For the Nefertiti Lift, results may last between 2 to 6 months. Generally speaking the fillers we use last around 6 to18 months for jowls and jaw line.
You will usually be with us for about 30-40 minutes. Your first appointment may be longer as it usually includes a full facial analysis, and discussion of your concerns and treatment options.
We are committed to providing the very best aftercare for great results. We will go through everything in detail before your treatment but you can rest assured that swelling, redness or minor bruising will usually subside soon after the treatment.
For dermal-filler based treatments avoid sun beds, saunas, steam rooms and extreme temperatures. It is also important not to wear make-up for a minimum of 2 hours after your treatment. For anti-wrinkle injections -based treatments, do not rub the treated areas for the first 2 hours. You will need to avoid sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms, extreme temperatures and alcohol for 48 hours post-treatment. Detailed information on aftercare will be given at the consultation.
Discomfort is usually minor, but this can vary from person to person and depends on the area treated. Dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic to reduce pain and we can also apply a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) to improve your comfort.
Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections are relatively safe treatments and millions of procedures have been carried out. Complications are uncommon and allergic reactions are very rare. It is important to ensure that treatment is done by a fully-qualified professional with an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy and experience to minimise the risk of complications.
