Targeting uneven skin tone, redness, vascular concerns and pigmentation
Cutera Xeo+ is available at our Lumiere Clinic Cheshire. We offer medical grade technology to target the following skin concerns:
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive, light-based treatment designed to improve the skin tone. Using the advanced Cutera Xeo+ platform, IPL treatments can be customised to suit your skin type and individual concerns for safe, effective skin rejuvenation.
Beyond IPL alone, the Cutera Xeo+ platform allows IPL to be combined with Laser Genesis, a treatment that stimulates collagen remodelling to improve skin texture and restore a healthy, radiant glow. This combined approach delivers a more comprehensive improvement in overall skin health and quality.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Unlike traditional lasers that use a single wavelength, IPL delivers multiple wavelengths of light to target pigment and vascular concerns within the skin. The light energy is absorbed by discolouration or redness, helping to reduce their appearance while supporting overall skin clarity and brightness.
Cutera Xeo+ offers highly adjustable settings that allow clinicians to tailor IPL parameters for each patient’s skin type, tone, and specific concern — improving safety and treatment precision.
Why it matters:
🔹 Better results with fewer side effects
🔹 More comfortable, personalised treatments
The Cutera platform includes a specialised IPL handpiece (Limelight) which is designed to deliver optimised wavelengths that target pigment and vascular issues more effectively than basic IPL systems.
Benefit over others:
✔️ More effective at breaking down pigment and redness
✔️ Works well across multiple indications in one IPL session
Xeo+ system incorporates contact cooling (sapphire-based built into the handpiece), which reduces discomfort and protects skin during treatment. Many older or entry-level IPL brands lack integrated cooling, which can lead to more discomfort and risk of superficial burns.
Results:
🟢 More comfortable treatment experience
🟢 Lower risk of side effects and irritations compared with other basic IPL devices
If you need a specialist to assess your skin condition, provide a diagnosis and discuss suitable treatment options, book a consultation with our dermatologist or dermatology nurse. If you have been treated with IPL before, and would like to continue with the same treatment, simply book in with our aesthetic nurse or practitioner. For more information, call us on: 0161 236 6500, email us on: info@lumiereclinic.co.uk or fill in our online contact form.
Before treatment, your practitioner will carry out a consultation to assess your skin and suitability for IPL. Fake tan or a sun tan is contraindicated for the treatment.
Avoid the use of topical retinoids or vitamin A-containing skincare for 3-5 days before treatment.
During the session:
Protective eyewear will be worn
A cooling gel may be applied
You may feel brief sensations of warmth or light snapping
Treatment time typically ranges from 20–30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Results develop gradually as the skin responds to treatment. Pigmented areas may darken temporarily before fading. A course of 3 to 6 treatments, spaced monthly apart, is often recommended for best results. Maintenance treatments, on average 2-3 times per year, are generally advised to support long-term skin improvement.
Downtime is usually minimal. Mild redness or warmth can occur immediately after treatment and typically settles within a few days.
Aftercare advice includes:
Daily use of broad-spectrum SPF
Avoiding sun exposure and tanning
Using gentle skincare products
Avoiding heat treatments or vigorous exercise for 1-2 days
All our new patients will need a consultation before treatment. This allows us to assess your medical history, skin condition and suitability for treatment. If you need confirmation or clarification of a diagnosis, medical treatments alongside lasers/light treatment and discussion of suitable alternative treatments, it is best to see a consultant dermatologist or dermatology nurse. If you have received IPL treatment before, and simply want to continue with the same treatment, then a consultation with our aesthetic nurse or practitioner will be adequate.
