TIXEL is a new non-laser, fractional ablative rejuvenation technology which resurfaces the skin in a safe and non-invasive way. At Lumiere Clinic, our expert Consultant Dermatologist, Plastic Surgeon and highly-qualified laser practitioner perform this treatment for skin rejuvenation. Compared to traditional CO2 laser, this treatment is radiation free, with reduced downtime (only a few days) and less pain. It also causes less scabbing and skin charring compared to CO2 laser.
First clinic in the North West to offer TIXEL
Lumiere Clinic is leading the way in TIXEL technology as the first clinic in the North West to offer this treatment. TIXEL is a non-laser, thermomechanical system which transfers heat energy to the skin in a controlled manner. It has the effects of rejuvenating the skin, tightening lax skin (especially around the eyes and neck) and enhancing the penetration of topical products with minimal downtime and pain. Two to five treatments are generally recommended for best results, and results may vary according to the individual skin condition.
It is effective for:

TIXEL has similar effectiveness to fractional lasers. Compared to laser, TIXEL treatment is safe with less charring and crusting, less pain, less downtime and post-care, and no irradiation.
TIXEL can also treat delicate skin including eyelids, neck, décolletage and back of the hands safely. Clinical studies have shown proven effectiveness of this system in improving skin complexion clinically and histologically (under the microscope) with a low amount of pain, less downtime and quick healing.
TIXEL treatment is suitable for those who want to improve their fine lines, wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, uneven skin tone and texture, or acne scars. Also, it is safe and effective to tighten and smooth out wrinkles and skin laxity around your eyes.
Although this treatment is suitable for all skin types, individuals with darker skin types have a slightly higher risk of pigmentary changes, as with most skin resurfacing treatments. Pre- and post-treatment care will need to be incorporated to reduce this risk.
We always recommend a consultation beforehand to assess your suitability for this treatment. We will also discuss the required pre- and post-treatment care with you to help you achieve the best possible results.
You must not have sun-tanned skin when you attend for your treatment. Also, you will not be able to have the treatment if there is any skin infection on the treated area.
TIXEL has similar effectiveness to fractional lasers in improving skin complexion, but at the same time, it causes less charring and crusting, less pain and less downtime than traditional CO2 lasers. It is also sterile device, and safe for the skin around the eyes as there is no laser irradiation involved in this system.
It usually takes 30-60 minutes to perform a full face and neck treatment. Improvement is visible usually after 1-2 months with smoother and healthier skin and reduction in scars.
Results are long-term until your natural skin ageing process sets in. We generally recommend a course of 2-5 sessions depending on your skin condition, and a yearly maintenance treatment thereafter.
We recommend spacing treatment sessions 1 month apart.
After treatment, the skin will be red and slightly swollen. This usually lasts for 3-4 hours. Tiny pin-point crusting may appear the next day, or within the next few days, but this usually disappears after a few days. Regular moisturisation of the skin (every 4 hours) can help to reduce visible crusting.
You can apply your make up 48 hours after the treatment. A detailed aftercare advice leaflet will be given to you after your treatment.
You are likely to experience heat for 2-3 hours, just like having a sunburn. This reaction settles down quickly, usually within a few hours.
We recommend sun avoidance for at least 3 months after the procedure. Regular use of an SPF50 sunscreen (that contains zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide in its ingredient list) and use of a physical barrier such as an umbrella or a hat is recommended when you go outdoors within the first 3 months after the treatment.
